I have just started to work as a kindergarten teacher… Due to her personal liabilities, the previous teacher could not do much with the classroom before leaving. Since I joined mid session, there was very little time with me to do up the class. I picked up the Jungle theme as I had already worked on it for my son’s 3rd birthday.
I wish I had taken better pics…
Here is a glimpse of my jungle themed classroom:
That’s my bulletin board – i made a tree in the center of the boards, with mica paper (newspaper used for filling). It needed lots of gluing, stapling and taping as it needed to be sturdy for the little kids who would be playing around.
I divided the boards into 2 parts – academic and fun. Following is our academics board – with the English and Hindi alphabets of the month, along with the display of theme of the month (that month being fruits and vegetables).
The other part was divided into two:
- “Look what we did!!”: This part of the board i have saved for displaying kids’ individual work or collaborative art projects.
2. Story board – with charts/ props etc. related to the story of the month.
I had some branches left, so I decorated the White board with them.
Here is the Months chart. I stuck little bumble bees with each kids pic and birth date on the respective month, for their birthdays.
Days of the week:
Two of the walls of my classroom are covered with windows. So, on one side, I made a curtain-border of leaves on the windows for a jungle effect.
Lastly, here are the frames I made to display the monthly syllabus and class scheduler:
Hope you liked my classroom. I think I did a neat job for a first timer.
