Rangoli is an integral part of all the festivities in India ! Before Diwali, people clean their houses and tidy up every corner. They do this to ready their homes to welcome Goddess Laxmi.
Here is a collection of a few rangoli designs that I have made on various Diwalis:
Buy the brightest colors of sand/ sawdust to make your rangoli more attractive. Also, the photographs clicked, will be more beautiful.
The following design of peacock was made by my sister-in-law on last Diwali:
This is a simple design that I made on the stairs and kept diyas on them:
Also, you may further decorate your Rangoli by placing marigold (or other) flowers, pots, diyas, crystals etc.
You must make rangoli on Diwali ! It doesn’t matter if you are not an artist; you can always make a simple design, or even use various stencils available in the market to create borders or main design.
This year, I bought a Rangoli Kit from Amazon.in:
It has 6 colored sands, 2 sand dusters and a Rangoli Pen !! Who knew that something like that existed ! I did a little research on the internet and youtube videos as to how to use the pen. also, I practised using it inside of a serving tray – creating simple lines and circles, and other shapes.
I will be decorating my place with this kit, this year. Will post the pics as soon as I am done. You may also order it online – there is still time.
Have fun decorating your house with Rangoli and diyas and lights. Do share your pics in the comments section for others to get inspired with.
Happy Diwali !!
It’s really great that people are sharing this inarnmftioo.
